Introducing Dr. Gurpal Pannu

Welcome Dr. Gurpal Pannu to MidAmerica Orthopaedics!

Dr. Pannu is an orthopaedic spine surgeon. He has trained at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Drexel University College of Medicine, and The University of California, Davis. At UC Davis, Dr. Pannu completed a fellowship in orthopaedic spinal surgery. He participated in clinical research that included the study of scoliosis, spinal trauma, and degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Throughout his career, Dr. Pannu has been active in clinical research in academic settings, giving him a vast knowledge of the latest technologies and procedures proven to best help his patients.

In addition to his academic prowess, Dr. Pannu cares deeply about his patients. He believes that the most important quality a patient should look for in a physician is to be seen as a person, with specific needs and fears, rather than as a medical condition. Dr. Pannu knows that surgery can be very stressful, and works to make the process as comfortable as possible for his patients. He gives them a detailed plan for their care, making sure they know every step of what occurs during surgery, and answers any last-minute questions they may have. Dr. Pannu sees the humanity in each of his patients, and works to make them as relaxed and informed about their care as possible.

His expertise encompasses both adult and pediatric care, so he treats a wide range of patients. Dr. Pannu knows how common back pain and back issues are—studies have found that eighty percent of Americans experience back pain at some point in their lives. Dr. Pannu understands how distressing back pain can be, and the extreme impact it can have on a person’s daily life, preventing them from going to work or enjoying daily activities. Dr. Pannu is empathetic to his patients’ conditions, and believes in educating them fully, as well as offering the most extensive range of treatment options available and the highest possible quality of care.

Dr. Pannu is well informed about alternatives to surgery and advises patients to explore these options before deciding whether to have surgery. He guides patients through non-surgical processes such as physical therapy, steroid shots, and nerve treatments before helping them to explore surgical options. If a patient does have a surgery, Dr. Pannu is there to help during the recovery process. MidAmerica has an in-house team of physical therapists, which allows physicians to keep close watch over their patients as they begin post-surgery therapy. Dr. Pannu ensures that his patients are seen and taken care of from the moment they meet him until the time they are truly back on their feet.

At MidAmerica, we are excited to bring Dr. Pannu onto the team. You can set your appointments with Dr. Pannu immediately to discuss spine and back conditions.
